Plastics: Pollution Versus Littering
Thursday, June 07, 2007
After watching today's program I came to know that plastics really are not the reason for our pollution. The main problem is proper management of our daily wastage and dumping site management. Since our country is developing country, we don't have any proper system of managing the recycled waste and other wastes. All of the wastages are mixed up in our places. So people just put their wastes in the polythene plastic bags and throw them everywhere on the road. So the wastage inside the plastic bag gets decomposed and then gives out the smell whereas the plastic bag never gets decomposed and the person on the television said that plastic bag never never creates pollution unless it is burned but yes it can create a problem of littering. That was so true.
If only we had this proper management of dumping of wastage and if only we could separate our recycled and nonrecycled wastages, there wouldn't be this problem of littering and may be the pollution can be controlled to some extent. Well lots of issues are there with our dumping sites and other managements of dumping the wastages but the main thing in today's program was plastics being an important part of our life and not creating pollution but creating littering problem to some extent due to the lack of that management system.
